One of the scariest things on this planet is ignorance, and the ability to act on it. Here is an article about a poll taken among Americans. You have to wonder where they are getting their information. What do they have against facts?

I don't know how accurate that poll actually is, take #15 on the list for example.....

Florida is dangerous 9 percent 28,252,264 people

I think it's a whole lot bigger number than that!

That's why they're called opinion polls. Everyone has one, whether it's any good or not.

Of course, you're absolutely right.

And besides, I just re-read the list and I guess it actually said, Flouride is dangerous, not Florida, so I guess I agree with that .

:D :D :D

Ah, right. I didn't recall a question about Florida.

Silly poll, if you consider the enormity of the universe you would have to conclude that it is a mathematical improbability that aliens don't exist.

The problem seems to be with young people primarily. if you have ever watched Leno he will go out on the street in LA and ask people some simple question that most 5th graders should know and these fools draw a blank. Their "smart" phones are smarter than they are.

Why bother to learn when your phone has all the answers?

Opinion polls in this country are a joke. I have a cousin who is a teacher in Philadelphia. Eventualy, he became a union represntative and was so liberal it was impossible to have any kind of meaningful discussion with him since his viewpoint was so scewed against common sense. It was like talking to Michael Moore. Here's a guy who went overseas telling anybody who would listen that Americans are mostly overweight and he looks like a beached whale! Talk about a hypocrite.

I haven't spoken to my cousin in years. His mother (my aunt) and my father's sister passed away a while back. He wouldn't even postpone the funeral for my Mom & Dad to attend and they only lived 300 miles away (no, she wasn't Jewish).

One of the last times I spoke with him, he asked me in this condescending voice "Who's job is greater than that of a teacher?".

I looked at him and said " Oh, I don't know. Maybe a brain surgeon who saves someones life or a fireman or a police officer?". His response was "How do you think they learned how to do that?". I guess street smarts and on the job training are totally irrelevant.

With people like my cousin, you'll never win the argument. The problem is that the NEA dictates a lot of what's taught in the public schools these days and in many cases it's absolutely 100% politically correct nonsense.

It's like the old saying, "Never argue with an idiot because someone watching won't know who the idiot is".

What did you expect when the country exchanges it's knowledge based culture with one based on drugs and laziness.
