Editing Program?

I haven't been a member very long, so all of this is new to me-I am not a prof.--i just do this for fun/family-Can any one suggest a good Editing program to use? thanks!

picassa / gimp for freebie after that lightroom/photoshop !!!! lightroom is a great organizer -digital darkroom photoshop more of a pixel editor for your creative side !!

I'm using Photoshop Elements 10. I'm very pleased with it, but I still consider myself a newcomer with that program. There's an upgrade that's available now - Elements 11.
