....and women are harder to get.
That is why the males are prettier. We're not picky but you gals are, so we need an edge.

You will find the majority of(if not all)the male in the species a brighter, flashier, more colorfull bird than the female. This way Dad has a better chance of catching the eye of a marauder, and leading it away from the nest.
Such a pretty bird. I wish we had them where I live.
