I think Martin has finally convinced me that paper is better than plastic. This is with a 5x7 box diffused with a paper towel. I think this is probably my best fly pic to date.

D300 with 105g + 20 mm ext. Manual flash @ 1/2 & f/22

Those are so good, they're creepy. Amazing detail. The light is very good in all the pictures.

That was last week, this week it's plastic plates, ha, ha. Yes, I love the paper towel, no hot spots and even distribution. Believe me I tried everything else under the sun and I still use a quality paper towel. Nice detail on the fly

Thanks. I've kinda settled in to using only the 20mm tubes with my macro lens. There was just enough breeze that I went crazy with trying to maintain focus. Most winged insects refused to sit. The larger diffuser seems to work better but it also scares more of them off. I'll have to start feeding them like Geff. I saw only one bee and a wasp-- nothing much else. I did get a few with that feather-like antenna-- but nothing good enough to post. They were about "flea-size" so pretty small...
