Easter, the day my Savior rose from the dead, I understand that. I do not understand what a rabbit has to do with this day or what a rabbit has to do with eggs? Please enlighten this hard headed old Norwegian.

Greed! They had to commercialize it so what better that to sell lots and lots of candy and eggs???

I think you broke the the code. Our savior rose from the dead after sheading hie blood on the cross to save us from from our sins. All we have to do is accpet him as our savior and he will accpet us into heaven. He paid it all. Romans 5:8 The world seen the chance to make a dollar and went for it.

I guess commercialism is about the only thing that fits. If the world is interested in it then commercialize it and make a buck. That I understand. It is hard to resist those Cadbury Easter eggs.

This is nothing new.The Easter Bunny has been around for eons.Personally I think we should have a holiday that's all about eating chocolate and leave Easter to celebrate Christ rising from the dead.

Like the timing of Christmas the naming of "Resurrection Sunday" as Easter has more to do with pagan beliefs than Christian Theology. Eostre was the pagan goddess of the dawn or the coming of spring. It was far easier to convert pagans if the early church aligned its celebrations with theirs. Thus rabbits and eggs for fertility and the renewal of spring and christmas trees for life and light through the darkness of winter. Before everyone jumps all over me, know that I am a devout christian.

I just figured the House and Senate had a discussion on how to compete with Christmas and one said "How are we gonna top that one?" Another said "Oh, I know!Let's feed the kids boiled eggs and chocolate for breakfast!" Then another said "The eggs need to be colored so they will think they're fun and won't argue about eating them" Another said "Let's keep 'em busy all morning by hiding the eggs from them! We'll dream up some crazy character to show up and scare the pants off 'em" and everyone voted Yea!

Sounds like a real good idea to me.

When I was writing the o.p. I was thinking the same thing. We could do the same thing with Christmas. We could combine the two and give chocolate away to our friends and relatives, ohhh my wife would have words with me if I gave her chocolate. She's diabetic and just loves it.
