Although I've never done senior sessions, I know other photographer's who have and was wondering what would be a fare price to charge the senior's and what they should get for their money ..... I wanted to ask a photographer but I felt bad about doing it.

Not all seniors are poor, charge accordingly, what is your standard rate, if you want give them a 25% senior discount.

It's good to know what the competition charges, but I wouldn't design your pricing on that. Do you offer better quality, more time with the senior to get the best shots possible, allow for more outfit changes, travel to the location of their choice, etc.? All these should be factored into the pricing.
I took my standard packages and customized them a little by adding a few very low resolution files that they can post on facebook (appeals to them!) and more wallets. I've also heard that slideshows on DVD's can work well but I haven't researched this yet. Good luck!

Some very good ideas, everything should be taken into account when pricing a service. The DVD idea is very creative never thought of that one.

Yup, these are good ideas but I've place picture's on facebook and have had one person to tag 6 or 8 other's (and it's my picture). I finally got to where I really watch that now.. Don't never put one on ther of somebody who passes away or several more will wind up with it :)

maybe a sliding scale ? i build cabinets for a living and i sometimes do that for young couples just starting out and the elderly

I did a senior sessions ihe other day for a buck. 165 shots and prints. But old school is time, material, and 33% in any business. Best way is check what others charge in your acra and work out what you think is fair.

Yeah, but what about a price? No one had enough guts to give a straight answer. I too am curious about what another photographer would charge. Just give a few numbers.

A good idea is check around in your area to see what others are charging for senior portrait sessions and set your price according to what you think you can charge. A guy who I shot with a few years back said "If you give your stuff away, it won't be worth nuttin"

Where do you live, and what do you think you are worth? I don't care what other people charge, I get paid because I am worth it. I talk to the client, we discuss price. Far too many of us don't get paid what our expertise is worth. There is no right answer.

WHAT IS YOUR TIME WORTH $10 A $100. AN HOUR. Its what you think. Then add 50%. Then what ever your printing cost will be.
