Brass plate on Nikor lens

I have been seeing Nikor 70-200 F2.8 VR on Ebay with what looks like a Brass plate riveted on them with the lens info are these an older version or perhaps an offshore / grey market version.

I'd be suspicious of anything labelled "Nikor". Probably a third world knockoff of Nikkor.

First version of the lens. They're on ebay for more or less $1500 all the time. It's my "next" lens.
