I do resemble some of that. I also continue to take issue with his Fast lens/High ISO/tripod arguments. Shooting moving objects in low light without IS still warrants a tripod for me. Of course if I had Ken's money i could throw mine away and make sure my ISO could go through the roof and my lenses would all be the latest IS version and I might not need that tripod. But Hey, I'm just an amateur, what do I know....

I have some of those traits too. But then, I'm not a pro and would be uncomfortable pretending to be one.

Here's another one he left off...
Real pros don't write smug, condescending articles making ridiculous and generalized fun of other photographers to presumably make themselves look and feel superior.

What should he care what kind of camera strap somebody uses and how they wear it or under what conditions somebody might decide to use a tripod?

And the statement that real pros all treat their gear like crap and beat the hell out of it??! Yeah, that's a great idea.

Some of the stuff he writes applies but a lot of it is a total steaming pile.

You make some good points, Gator. I usually like Ken, but this article is a little much, especially since I would guess 95% of his audience are amateurs.

I like my Nikon logo showing on my strap because I am a loyal consumer and when I like a product I don't mind having the logo showing.

I think ken may have just been trying to sell camera bags with this article.

Good point Bill. I don't mind the logo straps either and used one with my D80. However, my D600 with the 28-300 lens on it is heavy and the strap started to cut. So I put a CarrySpeed sling strap on it and don't regret it a bit.

I just wanted to know where one gets a camera bag to store a large lens that is big enough so I don't have to put the hood on backwards and DOESN'T have wheels? Sorry I store my lenses with the lens hoods on backwards (as do other pro photographers I know) and I like my lens caps (I don't use those stupid lens keepers, they drive me batty).

Did you see the bag he recommended? you couldn't get a 135mm in there with the lens hood on the right way. lmao
