Hey Douglass I can't find this formula you did for me several months ago. I would like to know what magnification my current set up is shooting. I'm liking this and thinK I'll hang with this for awhile. Decent DOF and almost 3 inches when at MWD. I can always back off if in the bush. 2.6:1??? Just a guess Thanks....

3/4 inches
3/4 inches...

Nikon D7000 sensor = 23.6mm x 15.6mm
3/4-inch = 19-mm
23.6/19 = 1.24x

Then we double first calculation. 2 x 1.24 = 2.48x.

Yes, I just figured this out. I thought I was going crazy until I looked at my tape measure, Thanks again.

This is why I use a metric scale, not an inch ruler.

So is this measurement with 68mm ext + the Raynox on your Tokina @ 1:1 on the lens?

I'm using 36mm tube with the lens and DCR-250. I'm really liking this magnification, getting a good feel for it. When I went higher I had more problem seeing well enough to focus, I just can't see that fine of detail. I have almost 3 inches working distance at full magnification and can always back off a hair. My shoe mount flash is still powerful enough at this setting also, all the way up to f/25 and ISO100 with softbox.

DCR-250 reversed sticking out of the 100mm lens, Attached with a few rings. I have better DOF this way

OK. Now the math makes more sense to me.
