I hope you guys aren't jumping ship on the larger tapered softboxes. I see an improvement in the detail at higher magnifications, heck even at 1:1. Thought we were going for the best possible results.. Your thoughts.....

I'm going back to the smaller one. The larger one is too difficult and clumsy to use in cramped quarters.

Is your set-up mounted on the shoe? Or on a bracket?

How big did you make this softbox Tom. I'm at 5x7 by 7 inches long. Your cup might blow him out
I haven't really been chasing much else than jumping spiders since I built my softbox come to think about it.. I hadn't paid attention with the other bugs. I know that getting 3 inch MWD from the bugs will cause a problem for my 2.5:1, as 6 inch working distance was getting pretty easy at 1:1. Your still using the set of tubes right?? about 3 inch work distance?? I'm Loving the detail in these shots Tom, hope you/me/us/macro forum, find a solution
