I found a book in my library, which I purchased some years ago. I recommend it for the placing of lighting. It is quite explicit in the type of light and placement of same relative to the subject and camera. It is a how to do it book for the untrained. I recall having used it 35 years ago in portraits and promptly forgot about it. some may find it useful "Lighting for Portraiture" by Walter Nurnberg.

by the way in the event the book is out of print I will copy a good part of it for anyone interested, and mail it to you.

TedPaul,

The book is available at http://www.amazon.com/Lighting-Portraiture-Walter-Nurnberg/dp/0240506774 and for a new one, it is really expensive at $245.02 - WOW! A used one is from $55.28, and that isn't exactly cheap! Thanks for the information about the book.

Tom

I do not recall what I paid; however the sticker in the book says 9,95.

Was recently at Barnes & Noble. Looking at their photography section saw several books on lighting, for portraits and other types. Most cost around $20-30. Sure that Amazon has a wide selection also.

~$47.50 including shipping. Abebooks is a clearing house with which I have done a considerable amount of business in my pursuit of information on steam locomotives. So far, I have no complaints.

Didn't realize it was "valuable" I've had that book gathering dust for over 30 years.

don't go by those prices for value. I wrote a book on flying and flight training a number of years ago, when I was a flight instructor. It sold then for $25. It sold out everywhere and people were e-mailing me asking me to do a reprint and some sent me links showing the book for sale at over $300 despite the fact I did a reprint and was now selling the book for $30.

Yes, and no. I purchased "Hobie Cat Sailing" by Jake Grubb new for like $25, sold it on ebay about a year ago for over $100. That being said, I only sail "old man" sailboats now, so book wasn't of much use. I'll sell my photography books when I go blind. I still go back and refer to my old books. I still have a "posing guide" with a young Lee Majors as the male model. Is it worth money? Probably a little, but to me it is priceless, because I still own it.
