Jumping Spider at f/11 & f/25

Had some free time today and choose to chase spiders instead of birds. A little different setup with these. Absolutely no flare with this setup
Tokina 100mm with 36mm extension tubes and the DCR-250 conversion macro lens (http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/dcr/dcr250/indexdcr250eg.htm ). For you guys that have the DCR-250 I took it out of the universal clip on and mounted it backwards using rings to the end of the lens. This places the DCR a good 2 inches further away from the macro lens element. Still testing but my results that your seeing tell me I gained some DOF compared to the way I had it mounted before. Will let you know how it works out, but pleased with the new mount.

F/11
F/11...

F/25
F/25...

Photos of set-up, please.

I love the softbox reflection.

Here's the setup I'm using today. The add-on conversion macro lens will stay mounted in this fashion for now, plus or minus tubes.

#2 is great. If I can ask a beginner question... If you are using a flash, why wouldn't you shoot all of the macros at a higher f stop, i.e. f25 instead f11?

Aperture f/25 requires lots of light, when diffused as I do, not to mention the magnification is closer to 2.5:1. It also renders most of your background in focus if close to subject, many folk use a larger aperture to help separate the background rendering it a nice soft blurry affect. Lots of folks also scream Diffraction and never pass beyond the f/22 mark. My aperture of choice is f/22, so I'm all for it, but on occasion, I use f/4 to isolate the subject from background. I guess it's a choice folks can make depending on the look they want.

Or he'd have to change his user name to fstop25....

Thank you all for the answers and Nikonian for the article links. I'm so glad I asked the question because I learned something that will help me everytime I pick up the camera.
