I changed my password on my laptop, the one that stayed home, right before I left for vacation, almost 3 weeks, now home, I forgot I changed it and I forgot what it was. Any ideas? Cant believe I did that but I did.

If any of your friends "download", then ask for a copy of Hirens Boot CD. This will solve your problem.

Try the "3 finger wave" hit the following at the same time.
CTRL - ALT - Delete, this will perhaps bring you to a page where you are offered the ability to change a password.

Hopefully you didn't do disk encryption.

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/reset-password-windows-7.htm

Jump to step 2 since you probably don't have the recovery disk.

You'll need another PC to download the program and create a bootable media. Nothing I'm aware of can recover the password, but they can remove/disable your existing p/w so you can login and set it.

For futures, you might look at something called a password vault. You remember one p/w that has all your others.

"Ophcrack" and "Kon-Boot" (both free) seem to have good reviews for recovery of lost passwords.

Wait 'til you get a Toshiba laptop that asks for a password for the hard drive. No tech will touch it and Toshiba says buy another hard drive or send it to them for repair.
So long, Toshiba. That name went on a "do not buy" list for me.
