Most likely an adult Eucalyptus Tortoise beetle, aka eucalyptus leaf beetle, (Trachymela sloanei):

From the UC Davis info, this is not a beneficial beetle... "imported" from Australia and destructive to Eucalyptus trees. "Photograph and squash"....

it flew the coop, I'm guessing it won't find its way back to the Eucalyptus grove very easily
