Was itching to do a little macro shoot. Ran down to the lake to my spider hang out. Found a few mostly small ones.
100mm Tokina lens with full set of extension tubes and the DCR-250. Shooting around 3:1
Very Nice... Love these guys.
Really super! How far away do you stand/sit from the subjects?

Working Distance of my lens is 3-inches from the spiders. These are hand held, no tripod.
Please elaborate on "full set of extension tubes".

My set of Kenko auto-extension tubes is a total of 68mm: 12mm/20mm/36mm. I use the auto-tubes because I can still control aperture through camera. The 68mm extension gives my 100-mm macro lens a 2:1 magnification when used at MFD/MWD. Now screw-on the Raynox DCR-250, and I gain about half of the overall magnification, so now I have 3:1 at MFD/MWD.
WOW as usual, great set!!

As always... superb and much appreciated.

What is a DCR 250 ?

http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/dcr/dcr250/indexdcr250eg.htm I normally use this with 20mm extension tube, the 100mm macro lens and this attached to the end. Works well, Sharp but with all magnification you start loosing DOF and your working distance to subject for maximum magnification is reduced to 3 inches or less. Camera shake is much more pronounced and helps if you can brace yourself/camera on something solid. If your into high magnification/stacking and use a tripod/bellow/rails, this would be the ticket. For hand holding you have to really apply to get good results. With the full set of tubes and this added I shot about 30%/compared to 90% with out tubes and attachment/ for focus yesterday but find myself bracing the lens on what ever is handy. I may try a monopod/with a good head when I return to the flower weeds fields later this spring.
Thankyou fstop22 sounds interesting :)
