A heartfelt Thank You to all Veterans, both past and present. This is not my photo.
All gave some, some gave all.
Here is a photo I took of the Iron Mike statue at La Fière, near Sainte-Mère-Église, Normandy a few years ago.
Iron Mike is the de facto name of various monuments commemorating servicemen of the United States military.

thank you, Irene.
my daughter visited Europe a couple of years ago as part of the Student Ambassador program, and she got to see Normandy. she bought home photos of the cemeteries there -thousands and thousands of white crosses marching off as far as she could see, and those were just the AMERICAN graves, and just from the actual D-Day landing... she said it was the most humbling experience of her life.
As a veteran and the son of a recently departed veteran, I attended a service today, and in spite of the rain, it went well, so I took some photos......Thank you to all who have served.

All the pictures that have been posted are impressive. I especially like the POW-MIA hotair balloon. Thank you for posting. Squirl033, I've only been to the Bushnell cemetary here is Florida and yes seeing all the grave sites can be a very humbling experience.
Steve, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your father. Your picture is. . .I've sitting here looking at the "New Grave site and I'm at a lost for words to describe it. It's more than just beautiful. Your rendition shows a lot of love and sorrow. It will be a precious memory long after a permanent headstone is in place. Thank you so much for sharing your love for your father with us.
This is my son Joe. May not be the best of picture quality, but its perfect to me. I call it,,Joe's sendoff.
People he didnt even know took time to show their appreciation for what he stands for.
Carol, In my opinion, it dosen't matter if a picture is good or bad or what others may say about it. This picture holds a lot of memories for you and that's all that matters. God bless your son and keep him safe from harm.

Thank you so much Irene, for both your condolences and your kind words about the photo. He was buried on Monday, and these were taken at the Vets ceremony on Friday, so I do really appreciate your comforting expressions

Ditto, I second the bid for his safety (Matt 18:19)
It's very touching to see family and strangers welcome our soldiers home or send them off for a safe journey. This is a picture of my son coming home from overseas meeting his niece for the first time. It's a very touching photo for me and close to my heart. I post it every Veterans day. I'd like to thank all the veterans and their familys for all they have done and sacraficed.
Welcome home from Afghanistan Uncle Mike
