Hi. Just joined and have thoroughly enjoyed the topics and pics. Does anyone use the Serif program? Seems like I am the odd man out. Would appreciate any thoughts or hints. Great snowfall here in Indy.

I've used Serif software for years. Still haven't exhausted the different ways I can use them.

Serif post processing software is fine. It is economical in price and the older versions are free. Much lower learning curve than most. They can normally handle most photo needs but usually won't handle raw files. I use it frequently with jpg files.

Nothing wrong with the software, but once their sales people get your details, e-mail, phone no. etc. they are really pushy.

I'm using PhotoPlus x4, used to use the starter edition and got tired of all the adds to upgrade. Everytime I opened another section the upgrade add would come up. Can't really give you any tips as I primarily use it for photo clean up of dirt and dust and crops. The few other things I've done seem to be easy enough. The help section is easy to follow and understand. Personally I think it is great. I didn't like picasa at all after the initial version. Every upgrade seemed to get more complicated and it (IMO) was always trying to take over everything it could. I do still get emails from Serif but only occasionally and they aren't bad.

Welcome to the Hog.

Serif doesn't own PaintShop Pro. Corel owns them. Serif has some other cheapy program now.

Totally pushy. I bought their PanoramaPlus X4 online after trialing their simple version because from their descriptions I thought the Plus version would do what I needed and it ended up being pretty juvenile. I called and they almost refused to give me a refund because the refund time window ended on Sunday and it was Monday. They even argued with me that I could have called them on Sunday to get a refund. So some manager "did me a favor" and allowed the refund. I was kind of hot about it. It wasn't what I would call a good transaction because they were also huffy about the whole thing.

Two weeks later some guy with a strong British accent called my cell phone and started carrying on about their photo software, their graphics software and on and on and trying to sell me a package of all of them for a supposed massive discount.

I let him go for a while then cut in and told him I wasn't interested. He asked why. I said I already had all that covered by other brand name software and even named them. He then tried to counter me with a bunch of crap about theirs being better. I cut in again and said I wasn't interested. He tried another pressure tactic. I said I still wasn't interest. He tried yet another one. I said, "I'm hanging up now. You can either shut up and we can part nicely or you can really piss me off and I'll find out who your manager is and call them back. Which would you rather it be?" So he cut it off, said a curt but proper goodbye and that was it. Apparently he black listed my name because I haven't received any calls nor emails since then.
