A pretty nice photo of a Great Blue Heron but the background distracts. Since it is just as gray as the bird, they blend in. While we can't always chose our background, we need to be aware of it. Our options are to use a large aperture and put the background out of focus or to change our position to change it completely. Sometimes even a small amount of movement, up, down, side to side, will make all the difference.

Hi Birdpix, I was using autofocus and could only go around the back of the bird as a angle alternative,I was on another dock and didn't want to give him a chance to fly away on me. 8-)
