All of a sudden I am unable to import pictures via Picasa Import. Up until two days ago all I needed to do was insert my memory card into my Canon MX712 printer slot and almost immediately the contents were shown in import ready to be saved or processed. Since I have never used any other import media, I'm stupidly, dead in the water for a solution.
Try putting your card in your computer card reader and if your photos don't show up in Picasa look into your "PICTURES" section. If they are in there just click onto one of the photos and move it to Picasa and all will be uploaded........
I insert my camera memory card into my PC, then use Windows Explorer to locate & open memory card. I copy-&-paste images to a new, dated folder in my Picture Library.
Sounds like the "Default Action" for inserting into that slot has been changed.

I do the same as Douglass. Card in PC slot & import with Windows Explorer. It will automatically create a new folder in 'Pictures', titled 'today's date'. These pics will automatically go to Picasa.

I create my own folders, using this nomenclature (today): 13-03-24, which separates years, months, and day, in chronological order.

Thanks guys---BUT!!! I do not have provision, in my Dell for plugging in and reading a memory card. Would a simple plug 'n play card reader do as you suggest?
Heard a rumor that Picasa had sent down an upgrade which has created this problem, universally, and have no idea how long it will take to solve the problem
What model of Dell computer do you have?? Every Dell I've had has had a card reader but of course I haven't had them all. I have the latest upgrade and am not experiencing any problems so I don't think it's that.......

In actuality, I insert my memory card into a Sony adapter that plugs into a USB outlet.

So a simple(SD)card reader with USB male to USB female would do the trick! Just a fancy thumb drive.

Mr Nikonian, sir, many thanks. When Texas finally secedes from the union, I'll see that you are made our ambasador to the left coast!.

I am certain that my conservative views are NOT typical for the left coast. Governor Moonbeam will never designate me to represent the Socialist State of California.

Hello Gramps, Personally I very rarely remove my memory card from the camera, as this reduces the chance of possible damage to the card when removing from the camera, inserting into a card reader, taking it of the card reader and inserting the card back into the camera. That comes to 4 possibilities when damage can occur!
I always use the USB lead and let Windows Explorer do it's stuff, most photo software have a camera import button which do the same job. Picasa has this button in topleft corner of the screen.
