Nice job! With longer lenses, depth of field becomes an issue. When you have two birds that are not on the same plane this becomes painfully obvious. To have them both in acceptable focus, you might need to shoot at f/11 or f/16 and place you focus point just behind the closest one. Manual focus may be necessary here because focusing on the water can be problematic. The camera sometimes focuses on what is being reflected rather than on the waters surface.

Thanks birdpix. I have a Fujifilm bridge camera with a 30x zoom lens. I have been just using the autofocus but really should practice using the manual focus again. Several years ago I had a manual only film camera with interchangeable lenses,so I did have some experience in that mode.
