I think I owe an apology to all of you UHHers. I recently posted a link to get a free Blue Ridge Parkway guide at
http://www.blueridgeparkwayusa.com/The post was removed because admin said it was a promotional sign-up and against the rules. There are no strings attached to getting the free guide. There is no cost. It is an excellent tool for any photographer planning a trip to the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. So I am still confused as to why this would be removed. This website has a wealth of information on the Parkway.
I have no connection to this site nor the Parkway, other than my love of it. I grew up just four miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. I still visit whenever I can.
Again, there was no intention of breaking any rules when posting this for others to use. My apologies.
I personally didn't see anything wrong with the original post, at least if it was in the Links & Resources section.
I spent a few days in the Blue Ridge Pkwy a number of years ago in the Asheville, NC area. GORGEOUS is the only way to describe it!!
Thanks jpintn, much appreciated.
What area did you grow up in. Myself grew up in Troutville, VA (Botetourt Co.) right off the Parkway.

I do not think you anyone an apology. I for one was very grateful for your post. I just ordered the "FREE" guide and will be awaiting it's arrival to plot my end of spring early summer trip. Thanks for the post.
No apology needed. Thanks for "reposing" the link. I ordered one just now.
Appreciate

This is the first one they caught, personally don't see any problem with it. Any guide is a great Guide !

Free stuff is almost always good. I suspect the guide carries advertising to subsidize "free". Easy enough to tune out.
My parents and I used to do the Blue Ridge as our summer car trip (from Buffalo). We'd stay at Peaks of Otter Lodge (which I understand closed). Real shame as it was a great way to get unplugged even back then. The parkway is really one of those national treasures. I don't think it's a bad thing to have places where the distractions of cell phones, TV and the Internet are filtered out and you can spend time with nature and one's own thoughts.

The lodge will most likely reopen this season. And yes, what a peaceful place it is.

Ahh, great to hear. Doing a few weeks on the parkway when the rhododendron are in bloom is high on the retirement "to do" list (not that I'm there yet).
I hesitate to tell people about it. It's like that great little restaurant or fishing spot.
Living within 20 - 30 minute from the parkway, depending on traffic, get on the parkway and just ride.....Doughton Park is fabulous....there's an old segregated picnic section behind the restaurant from years ago....went there as part of a class in 2007 with NEH @ App State. Go to Moses Cone and walk down to Bass Lake or drive there off 221....also @ Moses Cone home, go under the parkway and follow the road to the cemetery and fire tower. Great way to burn off some steam....a couple of miles there and back..
