23 years ago this morning, I had cancer. By afternoon, it had been removed. I knew for a long time that I had it, but there were sick and dying parents 5 hours away that I had to see about, so I made a deal with THE BOSS that if He would let me take care of them first, then I'd go see about ME. It was
4 1/2 years before I could take the time off. After they were both gone, I went and my Dr (who is also a good friend) had FIT!!!! He still wants to know how long I had that grapefruit sized cancer before I brought it in! I will never tell him! BUT BUT BUT...wait a minute, that's not all.
He came into my room after surgery and stared at me for a while. When I fianlly said "WHAT?" expecting the worst, he said "I don't know what you did right, but when I got in there, I found that the cancer had a large mass built around it! That kept it contained." I told him about my "deal" and he said "OK, we both know who built that mass". 23 year cancer survivor. Not too shabby!!!!
Real love of the olds and great faith of a deal - much admiration of of both of these qualities
Congrats on your survival and inspiration - great surgeons also not to be forgotten
Very heart warming story, you were a blessing to your parents so God blessed you. I pray that you will have a healthy and happy future.

Oh Karl, you could never imagine what a great Dr I have. He was just a young fellow when he did my surgery and has a brain that never forgets anything. He never has to look anything up in med books because it's all still in his head. He should appreciate me. I have praised him and sent tons of new patients to him!!!

Thank you, Doddy. Our parents are that important when pushed to make a choice.

And I am so glad you made that deal with the Boss!!!!! You are a treasure Jo. You didn't even have to tell me you took care of your folks before you took care of your self. :)

Glad to hear your story. God's blessings are new every day.
Although he's not known as a great theologian there is some great insight in this Einstein quote ...
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Thank you so much Mister Wilson. Einstein was right.
I often tell people "I would rather live my life as if there is a God and find out there is not, than to live it as if there is NO God and find out there is."
Amazing how that works, isn't it? We are all glad that you made that deal!
