I took this as an example of low key modified butterfly loop lighting. Brooke is 14 years old and loves books. The parents love the look and of course purchased the image, but would a highschool senior buy this, I don't think so--Open for discussion

Excellent portrait, only the color of the nail polish is very distracting.

I agree with the fingernails. I took the wrong one off my desktop. I had to change the nail color. I'm not sure how to delete this one to put the other one in it's place.

If it doesn't say EDIT below the post, you cannot delete that one and replace it.

My 2 cents: This is imo a good photo, but for a teenage girl, I think something a bit brighter would be more appropriate. I am far from an expert, but that is my take on it. To me it looks just a bit soft and perhaps slightly underexposed, but maybe that is an effect you intended to get.
Why not just add the intended photo so we can all see it?

Beautifully done. I love and used to shoot the "Old Masters" style. Some teens may like the "over-propped" portraits currently in fad but for me, less is more. My early portrait mentor once told me to avoid the back of a woman's hand...better to use the edge of her hand. Had she placed it on top of the book it would have been more slimming...just sharing. Wonderful shot.

I would think a female high school senior would purchase something like this if they could afford it. Except for the fingernails as you mentioned, I think this is a fine piece of work and should be left alone.

I thing it is a great piece of work too. The lighting is perfectly done. And if that was her choice of color for her finger nails. Then I would not change it. Beautiful work!!!

THis is a nice portrait. Not the best choice for a girl of 14 but still a good portrait. I would use this lighting on someone a tad older.
I like the warm tone and the processing.

Save this lighting setup for another person on another day.
