All very nice, but especially love the Hover Fly. Such color and detail. They are so hard to get (at least for me). Just got my dSLR and am wondering what lens you used for the Hover Fly. My next purchase will likely be a macro....
Two thumbs up :)

Thanks for the kind words EB....yes the h-flies are tough because they don't seem to sit around much, I was lucky to catch this guy resting.....my lens is a Nikkor DX 85mm micro (macro) lens on my D5100. I love this lens both for macro and "normal" use, it's really sharp!

As I always say, it's good to be lucky...and I love it when I have it when shooting :) Thank you for the info on the macro lens. I know I will need a longer one for the insects and butterflies as is is hard for me to sneak up on them. The 85mm or 105mm are on my radar.
Happy shooting,

Happy shooting,

Can't go wrong with either one, of course make double-sure to get the right model for compatibility...

Thank you Nikonian72. The article confirms my interest in the medium range macro lenses. A little more working room when trying to capture insects and can still hand-hold
