There is not difference except how you hold them. Which one is easier for you to handle, to get that shot?
I never heard anyone describe a Nikon as a potato before...

When I bought my first DSLR I had friends and family using both. My nephew suggested I forget the camera body, he uses both, he said you will get used to either body. Focus my search based on the glass offered by both that would best suit my shooting goals and buy the glass then buy the body to match the glass. His opinion is the both Canon and Nikon cameras will do more than Id ever require. I took his suggestion and spent a lot of time looking at lenses that I might be interested in considering what my primary interests were. I wound up with Nikon strictly based on my lens research, Ive never regretted my choice.

Now, THAT is a chessboard!
So what it comes down to is skill, not camera. ;)

Exactly! Thats why we spend thousands on cameras and thousands more on lenses because it really doesnt make any difference.
The pursuit of a good photograph leads many an average photographer to spend lots of money to continually upgrade equipment that really doesn't help him/her get any better..... they just keep getting the same average or crappy results with better equipment!

Why are Nikon DSLR's so much better than canon? Those who use Nikon are real photographers. Is it because a Nikon looks like a purposeful instrument whereas a canon camera reminds one more of a potato? Canon always seems to play second fiddle.
Winter, there are only two kinds of Nikon owners...., those that know that Canons are better, and those that lie about it!
In 1986 I took a really big step, if not a risk. I was a Pentax shooter(loved those cheap little cameras) and bought my first Canon T90.
And Nikon has been h*ll bent on making every camera since then and today look like a Canon. The T90 was the future(yes, that potato), not those boxy Ford model T looking contraptions that Nikon and every other camera company was producing.
Fast forward...to the Canon 1DX. If all those D4 shooters didn't have so much wrapped up in glass, they would ALL switch.
As for me, give me a big white lens any day.
I wouldnt want one one of those cheap looking big black lenses. It's impossible to tell if they come from Nikon or Walmart.
But, I think I will have to agree with the smartest guy on this forum, fstop22, it's not about the camera !!!
Hey, just funning ya a little, don't get mad.

That is a very good question! I also think the Nikons seem to take better photos. The only reason I don't buy Nikon (yet), and I hope no-one takes offense on this comment, is that I read on an animal rescue causes blog that Nikon supports bull dog fighting... How true that is I'm not sure yet, but I'm trying to find out. However, it doesn't change the fact that I also think their DSLRs take better photos. I wonder if anyone has an answer to that. :)
As sonny and Cher once said "and the beat goes on and the beat goes on" I have Nikon wish I had Canon
