Both taken this morning with two different cameras and lenses.

Canon 7D, 400mm, 1/1600", f/5.6, ISO 800
Canon 7D, 400mm, 1/1600", f/5.6, ISO 800...

Canon 6D, 300mm, 1/1600", f/8, ISO 1250
Canon 6D, 300mm, 1/1600", f/8, ISO 1250...

Both are stunning! Is the difference in color due to the angle you took the photos and did you use the same lens?

Gorgeous birds! I like the first one better, it's as if the owl's colors are better defined. Both are great though! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Wendy. Color difference is determined by a lot of things. How the camera and lens interprets it. Surroundings. Post processing, etc.
First was taken with a 400mm and the second with a 300mm.

I prefer the bird coloring of your first image, as well as the contrast against the blue sky.
Cropped vertically, this looks like a book cover material.

Thanks a lot Marzee. Actually the second one is closer to it's true colors.

Douglas, I'm relatively new to this forum but is it common practice to alter images without the photographers consent? Just curious. I'm not saying you didn't do a good job but I thought a critique or help had to be asked for.
