I was sitting behind my house last year when crows started calling pretty soon a barred owl come flying in the pine trees I was sitting in, thanks for looking.

Crows often mob red-tails. In fact, that is a good way to find them. If you hear a large mob of crows calling and see them flying around one particular tree, you can be sure that a hawk or even an owl has been discovered and is being harassed. I have seen other small birds harass hawks, especially Kingbirds who will single handedly go after a red-tail and peck it on the back of its head as it chases it away.
