Ever notice when a Democrat is asked a question about the Federal Debt, they change the subject to the Federal Deficit, just like Dick Durbin did yesterday......Big difference between the two...

No mystery there. That is called "The Washington Two-step". In Kalifornia, we call it "the Sacramento Two-step". Obfuscation is the mother of "changing the subject to avoid something we'd rather not debate with you people".

You think it is only Democrats? Here is a link with a search engine you can type your favorite puppets name into. Or your favorite company. These are just some of the benefits on the hill the politicians didn't want to talk about which is why the so called sequester was initiated. Lets give both sides their due share. http://dirtyenergymoney.com/ If you like that, you may also like this site. http://priceofoil.org/fossil-fuel-subsidies/

Good point.

All that's missing is links to the green energy industry and it's puppets. GE and others didn't get enough tax breaks to reduce their tax bill to $0 for nothing. Some companies got some pretty big bailouts for their contributions. Oh and they get their own subsidies to provide the illusion that their products are viable in the marketplace. Corruption all around.

I am glad to know that you learned the difference between deficit and debt. Now try to learn the implications of reducing federal spending in a recession or in a period of slow growth.

I already knew the difference. Seems many Democrats do not or like Dick Durbin, choose to deflect attention away from the issue when confronted by it...I am aware of the implications of reducing federal spending as well, but it's a catch 22 as to increase spending simply increases the debt on our children & grandchildren. Better idea would be to stimulate businesses to create jobs instead of the Federal government. That was never a function of the Feds from the get go...

But there's the rub, do you stimulate business by stimulating the middle class and small businesses (reduced federal spending will not do that) or do you stimulate large corporate businesses who would supposedly (but not historically) create jobs in a weak economy.

Well, since we tried the Federal spending approach & it failed, I don't want to waste money on a failed approach again...Even if we were to do nothing, the economy would eventually improve, as it already has, due to circumstances unrelated to the government. So to say the "stimulus" did work isn't exactly true.

What you may find interesting is that I don't totally disagree with your logic. It's kind of like the old paradox of the boy lost in the woods and the temperature is dropping so 2 plans are put forth. The first, is to send out a skilled tracker who will eventually find the boy but the question is, because the forest is so vast, will he be in time? The second proposal is to send out a helicopter which can cover the entire forest but the risk is they might miss or overlook the boy from that high in the air.

Both approaches are equally valid, but neither are guaranteed to find him in time. But we can only choose one.

Know how to tell when a politician is lying?

Their lips are moving!

Politics: n, from the Latin poly (many) and tics (blood sucking parasites)

Here is my favorite example of the Potomac two step: President Bush, you say that we have won the war but why are our troops still dying while we spend billions of tax dollars on private contractors to do the jobs we trained our military personnel to do?

W's reply was to start a holy war on homosexuals to distract the media addles masses. The country was engulfed in debate about gay marriage and no one noticed Cheney leaving DC with dumptrucks full of money.

I laughed my butt off after the nausea subsided.
(Before anyone flames me for this tongue in cheek post, take a long look in the mirror to see if your eyes really are open) Love ya. PEACE!

Why didn't the Republicans bring up the deficit or the debt when Republicans were in power. Why did they hold two wars without an accompanying war tax?
