Hawks and Eagles.
I have been sitting out side in a ground blind, off and on for weeks. And sometimes up to 7 hours, waiting. And I finaly got my Eagle shots, plus a new comer Red-Shouldered hawk. It has taken me two years of sitting out in this blind, from Jan-March. But I did it! At times it was freezing out there, but to see an Eagle fly in would warm me right up.

LOL Thanks foehner, you are right about that. Got some frost bite too. It it was worth it to me, even thou my daughter thinks I am goofy at time.
These are absolutely wonderful shots!
The photos are fantastic but the copyrights are quite distracting.

Sorry about that mollymolly,
I have had pictures show up in magazines that I did not give them. So on forum and facebook stuff like that where I post pictures on the web I do that now. Prints I sell I do not have the copyrights on the front.
But glad you like the pictures.
All great shots, but the one with the 2 fighting is a once in a lifetime shot!! I'd like to see that large, can you send the original. (I promise not to steal it).

Hi pigpen, I know what you mean about shot of a lifetime. I had been freezing, could not fell my feet any more. Then the eaglet come in and my heart started to race and I warmed right up! When you sit out side in a ground blind with temps that are any where from -12 degrees below to 26 above zero for hours a day, as long as I have it seems like a lifetime.
Here it is.

I've had some experience shooting BIF (not as much as many here) so I know how difficult it is to capture these birds. It's one thing to get a shot like this, it's another to have it tack sharp. Wonderful image, I'm jealous. May I ask what equipment you use??

pigpen,
I was using my Nikon D7000 with the 70-300mm len. I really love this camera. Just wish I have a bigger lens, some day! On some of my shots I missed the eagles wing in the shot. I was so upset with my self, but when they started fighting I was more intersted in the head and talens. And beleave me my heart was racing big time.

The fact that you captured these with that lens makes them even more impressive. I have the 400mm f/5.6, and still have to crop usually. I just ordered the 7D, 8fps, can't wait. Look forward to seeing your next post.
