Need your opinion on a third party macro lens.

Hello I'm Jill and I joined a few days ago. I was hoping I can get some info on a Tamron 90mm Macro lens. I hope a third party lens isn't taboo around here. I have been seeing it online for around $500.00 with a $50.00 rebate but today I found it on Fumfie.com (where I got my Nikon 5100) for just $375. It looks like the same lens but sometimes things that look to good to be true are. It's on sale till Sunday so I was wondering what your opinion on this would be.
Also if you have this lens would you recommend it for macro photography? I'm interested in Insects and small subjects.
Thanks so much I just don't know what to do.

Many of the superior photographs on this forum have been captured with secondary lens manufacturers, such as Sigma, Tokina, Tamron, and Lester Dine (don't ask). 90-mm is in the best focal length range for field macro-photography.

Here are UHH threads that will be of interest to you:

Macro illumination is also very important for field macro-photography.

You are smart to be asking questions. Don't quit!

P.S. - I know NOTHING about Fumfie camera sales. Investigate to make sure there are NO bad ratings concerning equipment sales.

Hi Jill. I bought my Tamron 90mm macro a few months ago, after researching the options. I love it. Auto focus is a bit slow but it is a very sharp lens. It is not restricted to macro stuff either. It takes great portraits & focuses to infinity. Price is right, too.
