It was a ponderous, huge bill that was rushed through a Congress that for the most part did not even bother to attempt to read it all. A foolish head first jump without thought that will have parts of it in litigation for years to come. As that genius Pelosi had merrily spit out, we have to pass it to know what's in it. Well, we are slowly finding out. :|

"...a Congress that for the most part did not even bother to attempt to read it all."

And we gleefully re-elect them for not doing their job! It's OUR fault, not Obama's or congress!

Some gleefully did, not all, and representatives are elected to a job, part of which should be to read the things they vote for or against on.

Your point is valid however as much of the electorate casts their ballot based on frivolous or non-sensical reasons. Party loyalty, religion, looks, race, media spins, all come into play, not whether the representative kept his pledges or has done a measurable good job. Just my opinion. 8-)

Your second sentence is the crux of all the division and rancor witnessed on this and other social forums. We're so committed to abiding by the rules, regulations and beliefs of whatever group we identify ourselves with that we can't or won't listen or try to understand the others point of view. All this does is keep us divided and fighting amongst ourselves while the ones running the show sit back and laugh at us while exerting even more control over us.
