Hello, I took this photo in color using HDR by Photomatrix. Converted to B/W and adusted this that and the other and got a full range of light from paper white to absolute black, Plus the detail in the shadow areas make the pic to me. You just can't edit that detail in with any real success if it is not there to begin with.
Povdov. P. S. Any constructive criticism is very welcomed
i really like the photo, looks good
Thanks Joe, I am going to start out with B/W from camera thru Lightroom and then over to HDR and back to Lightroom to see if that improves any more the contrast. Thanks again. POVDOV

I would like to see the changes in the contrast. I'm like you, I love the detail in the shadows but the machine itself (above the tracks) lacks definition (I think that is what I mean) seems too bright.
Thanks TK, I looked at the no adjust color pic and see that it is really monotone on the side. I wonder if I hit one of the lighting adjust buttons on HDR. See the picture.

I am in no way an expert on editing. But it seems to me that the light is so bright on the subject that you may have to sacrifice the detail in the shadows for the better effect on the machine. I like the bw shot.
love the B&W. Great detail.
