Health Insurance Available for All- In Texas, no taxpayer $$

Is Obamacare necessary? In Texas, health insurance is available to everybody, and no taxpayer money is involved, either state or federal. Begun in 1998, the Texas Health Pool covers those in the state who cannot get coverage from private companies due to prior health conditions. The cost of the coverage is covered through premiums and the shortage is covered by health insurance companies that operate in the state. An individual may receive a subsidy based upon household income up to 50% of premium cost, and deductibles begin at $2500. Six doctor visits with a $30 co-pay are included in the play, as well as an ER co-pay. So, if a person really wants health insurance in Texas, it's available.

After exhausting his time on Cobra, my son just enrolled in this plan, since he's the recipient of an artificial heart valve and still in school.

Thanks, Wilson. Thankfully, the new heart valves are made from hardened carbon and rated out to 100 years if taken care of with blood thinners. We were fortunate, though. On an echocardiogram it was discovered that his ascending aorta was enlarged due to the problem with his valve, and they had to replace the ascending aorta along with the valve. Essentially it was a developing aneurysm and was dangerously large when they did the surgery. I'm sure God was watching over him again as he was especially when he as 13 and had his second surgery.
