Today every Republican in the Senate voted NO to having everyone checked before buying a gun. Ninety-seven percent of Americans are in favor of these checks. What kind of government do we have? No! You do not have to answer. Just think NRA!!!

Please provide the source of your proposed facts relative to the percentage in favor of background checks. I have not seen nor heard that percentage and would like to where or who presented the data.

I wish people stopped posting this type of information without any data to back it up.

100% of the people in this nation think that 50% of the people are wrong. I just made it up.

In most states there is no background check needed.Thats because there was a check done before issuing a gun license and in those states the person you are selling it to needs the license. If you violate that then you are breaking the law.And like all other laws, criminals will break this one too.
What bothers me is that if it passes,
I would have to do a background check on my own son to enable me to pass on my firearms.Just plain stupid.

I don't know the percentage, but the majority do support background checks and I for one agree

Good point. I said it before. What we need is criminal control. Tougher penalties for gun crimes. It worked in New York city back in the 80's. The word got around not to use a gun.

Unfortunately, IMO, you are very close to being 100% correct. We are a nation divided by several sets of values or lack thereof.

I do not see the division in this nation reducing, rather I see an expansion of the issues at hand. An increase in separation and more aggressive responses. The saddest observation I have is that I believe many of our so-called leaders are depending on this division so as to ensure their own agendas are completed.

To use the death of children by a mentally ill person to further their personal agendas is IMO, wrong.
Our country has dropped to its knees and does need to stand together, upright and proud.

Here endith the missive.

Again, due to the massive amount of false and error filled data on the internet and produced by the press. Please produce the statistics and source.

The Marist Poll whcih is the most recent revealed that 84% of people polled supported background checks for gun purchases. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/287907-poll-public-supports-background-checks-for-private-gun-sales
You see the problem here is that some of our representatives in Congress have been turned from stallions into geldings and would rather go against their constituents rather than be scolded by the NRA.

I think we need more than background checks. We need training also. You need a license to drive a car and you must pass a test. So why not for a dangerous gun. If you have one illegally we need stiff penalties. Get the word out.

I thought 'gun control' was being able to put a second bullet through the same hole the first one made. :?

Yes. It also means using both hands.

Train Nut I agree with you. It takes more training today to do CPR on a dying man than to possess a handgun.
There's something wrong with that equation.

I just want to be certain as to the pollster.
http://maristpoll.marist.edu/

If so please read the following findings from the same pollster and then we can discuss.
