Had a clear sky to the west until about 20 minutes before sunset. Then guess what happened. Will try again tomorrow night. Anyone out there having any luck?

You were luckier than me. I have tried to see it for 3 nights now and no luck. Last night, I saw the crescent moon for a few minutes but no comet. Then clouds came and you could even see the moon. Will try again tonight.

Well done. Lived in KC from 1960-1976. Last lived in Red Bridge area. Last time through downtown looked like a gost town. Sad.

My unimpressive attempt...
Canon 7D with Tamron 70-300 lens
Shot at 300mm, F/5.6 (Aperture Priority), Shutter 0.8, ISO 3200 (resulting in lots of noise of course). PP crop only.
I'm going to try manual at F/5.6 for 1.3 secs at ISO 1600 tonight, skies permitting. At least I learned a lot about what wouldn't work last night. This was my best shot.
Any other recommendations for tonight's attempt welcomed.

From what I've read, try as many settings as you can while the comet is in view. Otherwise, wait for professional images to be published. That's what I'm doing - too cloudy here.

You probably saw this, but here it is again.

Try ISO 800 for 10 seconds, 15 seconds, etc. up to 30. Turn on noise reduction set on normal, and turn off auto focus. Put focus to infinity.

Not a ghost town anymore, there has been some revitalization and it looks different with the Sprint Center, Power & Light District, The Kauffman Center for the performing arts and the National College Basket Ball Hall of Fame. Thank you so much for the link. I had not seen it and found it very informative and helpful. Can't wait to get out there tonight!

Nice shot... Have been shooting it for the last three nights.
Had some cloud issues but lucked out.
On the 12th it was above and to the left of the moon. About as bright as Polaris. Last night it was about 15 degrees below the moon and to the right.
There we 6 of us on Escambia Bay (Pensacola Fl. ) taking pictures. Lenses ranged for Kit 55-300mm up to an 8" Meade
with adapter. ISO, f-stops and Shutter were all over the place.
My best shots were at ISO 800, f5.6 from 3 to 10 sec.
Will post when I finish playin in PP.
