From what I understand, DxO Optics Pro corrects distortion in images, much the same a LR. So what's the appeal, then? Does it do a better job correcting distortion? Does it offer other features?

Jerry, I haven't used it, but it seems to average 4 out or 5 stars. Having said that, it apparently has camera and lens restrictions and/or limitations.

You like Rockwell, don't you. See what he thinks:

Oh noes, not another KR link...

OK, I have used DxO and it was freakin awesome. I used the trial only, and I downloaded it specifically to fix an image. This was taken with my 30D Canon and 17-85 at the widest setting where it was soft and distorted. DxO corrected both issues and generally improved the image. That was in 2008 I think. This image is printed A0 size I believe, it's bloody big. I have several of them up in the training rooms at our aero club as a training aid.

Thanks for the link. Once again, he's either all in or all out. He liked it in 2009, but what would he say today?

From my understanding, DXO has most all the corrections already loaded for many lens/camera combinations. In LR, you have to provide your own with the exception of a scant few. DXO also updates their listing frequently as lens are released. I do not have a copy of DXO but am considering it.

I used a trial a few years ago and was impressed, but then I found that LR does about the same thing as far as distortion is concerned. I don't have any exotic lenses, so the ones I use are covered in LR.

Hey Jerry...I tried out DXO..it's pretty nice... But since Lightroom 4 came out...I am totally in to Lightroom. Does great job with lens corrections. Most camera profiles and lenses are included.

I have a pretty distorted view of the world, so my images don't require much correction. :D

I think I'll go pro tomorrow. As for carrying my gear, I'd appreciate that. Could you also pay my bills? That would be most helpful.
