The Canon 5D costs $600 more than the 7D. Are there any significant differences except 2 megapixels (18 vs 20), and one stop faster shutter speed?
Full Frame vs Crop Sensor
A big plus or minus would be what lenses have you already got and would they be interchangable?
The 7D is the crop sensor, has a better AF system, dual processors for faster buffering and more frames per second in high speed shooting.
Kind of depends on what you want to shoot whether or not those are more important.
Sports and wildlife, 7D.
Portraits and landscape, 5D.
That's the difference.

That pretty much sums it up.

Yes. The 7d is like a machine gun!!. Also, not sure about the 5d, but the 7D's "center" focus point is actually 5 points. This makes it easier, & quicker, to focus when to tracking your target.
The 7D has a faster auto focus, faster frame rate, the 7D can use the EF-S lenses.
The 5D, is an amazing camera for the price, with the 5D you can only use the EF lenses, if you mount an EF-S lens on a 5D or any full frame body you will probably dislodge the mirror of you may damage the shutter.
