I dont know why any individual should have a right to have a revolver in his house. The kids usually kill themselves with it and so forth. Why cant we go after handguns, period? Richard Nixon
Deadly assault weapons have no place here. These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people. - Mitt Romney
Every year, an average of 9,200 Americans are murdered by handguns, according to Department of Justice statistics. This does not include suicides or the tens of thousands of robberies, rapes and assaults committed with handguns.
This level of violence must be stopped. Sarah and Jim Brady are working hard to do that, and I say more power to them. If the passage of the Brady bill were to result in a reduction of only 10 or 15 percent of those numbers (and it could be a good deal greater), it would be well worth making it the law of the land. Ronald Reagan
Democrats speak out on geology:
U.S. Representative Hank Johnson (democrat): "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize."
I'm not sure what the point of this post is. The gun control issue is hardly a "party" thing.
Nixon voiced his opinion as he was known to do. His administration did nothing to reduce the number of deaths.
Romney just showed his ignorance of the issue. Actual assualt weapons are already banned and illegal.
The Brady Bill was passed and has made no difference at all.
Bad guys with any kind of weapon cause bad things to happen. Before we control the tools of violence we need to curtail the actions of the people that are prone to violence.
The oddest news for this week was that the number of households with guns has declined, yet the number of guns has increased.
This can only lead me to the conclusion that there is a group of people who keep buying more and more guns while the general population is eliminating them from their homes.
I'm still working on what I can conclude from this information but it certainly warrants further investigation.

It indicates something the libs don't understand. People who want guns own them People that don't want guns don't own them. Since the criminals don't bother with registration or legal sales we don't know what they are up to.
Unfortunately, we don't know what these "legal" gun owners are up to either so that's not an argument for or against gun control.
Following your logic, it would be useless to pass any laws because criminals wouldn't obey them.

Well there you go. Our problem is not a lack of laws it is an unwillingness or inability to enforce them.
Instances of legal gun owners killing anyone but themselves are rare.
We all better get guns. Somthing is cooking up with Homland Security. Why are they loading up with guns, ammo and armored cars?
Using your logic, making it illegal to commit a crime would make it against the law, and thus all our problems would be solved.
Why don't you look at who is committing the crimes and figure out how to do something about them, rather then espouse on something that will only make you "feel" like you did something when you haven't. Later, we all know you will take no responsibility on the unintended consequences, you'll point that your heart was in the right place, we had to do something. Boil water- that will help.
Legal gun owners are up to the same thing they have been up to since 1776.

The fact that they are legal tells the story. If they aren't doing anything illegal who cares what they are doing?
I personally own a number of guns, at least a couple for well over 30 years and in all that time none of them were ever used in a crime. Maybe my guns are defective, they just aren't going out and harming anyone or causing any trouble.
