I had already posted these on another forum and remembered this Birds in flight. sorry for the duplicate.
The pilliateds were back again this morning and this one was flying back and forth between the suet and the tree. I was pretty excited when i saw what i had captured!

Yes, they are gone in a flash if they see any movement. I think my pair is getting a littel more used to me, but i still have to be sneaky. I tryed to sneak out the side door and get a shot NOT through the window, almost fell off the steps, was just ready to click the shutter while hanging almost upside down off the steps, and away he flew!

Neat photos of the Pileated! It's interesting to see that 1/500 sec doesn't stop the wingtips! A little blurring of the wings helps establish motion. Freeze it or show it as you please.
