Well, the maps pretty accurate!
Have not seen the movie and don't really know the story but surely the facts were checked and what is portrayed is what is believed to be the truth.

Hollywood is great for rewriting history - I have just read that they have made a film about a true story here in the UK where a man bought a rundown zoo and his struggle to rebuild it.

Only in the Hollywood version the zoo is now in California!!!!

It's a movie. Some movies are based on true stories, but unless it's a documentary claiming to be completely factual it's fiction. Sheesh, do people believe Hollywood movies are factual? Scary. :|

I respectfully suggest you re-read my original post. It would seem reasonable the people of NZ are in a bit of a dust because of the false impression given in the movie that the diplomats of NZ turned their backs on people in need of help.
If I am mis-reading the article I apologize, however I'm sure I am not.

quote=Bmac quote=cathyturner17 Well, the maps pr... (show quote)

I cannot state my opinion any clearer than I have already.

On a further note, it seems Iran is threatening to sue over their depiction. Some in Canada think that country has not been properly represented. Perhaps Ken Taylor, the Canadian Ambassador depicted in the movie said it best:

"In reality, Canada was responsible for the six and the CIA was a junior partner. But I realize this is a movie and you have to keep the audience on the edge of their seats."

For folks who wish to review all the inaccuracies in the movie you can have a field day here under: Historical Inaccuracies

I will let director and actor Ben Affleck have the last word in my post: "Because we say it's based on a true story, rather than this is a true story, we're allowed to take some dramatic license."

Actually, it seems a few governments feel slighted. But heck Cathy, I want to see some of your photos from New Zealand! I have heard your nation is one of the most scenic in the world, so please post some pictures (on your own thread of course) and I will certainly take a look! :)
