Right now I have a kodak digital camera which I love. I also have an old 35 mm camera with 2 interchangable lenses and a flash, which I don't use, would it be wise to trade that one in for a much better digital camera that I can cnange the lenses, and flash and really play around with? Any input would be helpful. thanking everyone in advance.

It depends on what you are going to use it for... Some of the bridge cameras are pretty good and offer you a wide range of shooting experiences without the investment that you would have to make in a DSLR.... But then again, if you want the very best quality in your shots it is hard to beat a DSLR but your investment in lenses can be quite substantial... What kind of 35mm camera do you own and are the lenses compatible with a newer DSLR? And are they good lenses or inexpensive lenses, that is one question that I think you would want to get the answers to.

Hey Doc ..... with a little bit of luck you can trade your Kodak for a Big Mac ..... which 35mm equipment have ya got?
Lots to think about, I've got to dig it out. LOved it when I used it, however love what digigital has to offer.
Soon as you say trade in....a profit has to be made on trade in goods so you won't get as good a price as you would in a first party sale.
Hi belladonna, welcome to the 'hog. Yep,i had same exact experience, great slr with 2 lenses, and didn't want to invest a lot in digital,so got the Kodak Z981. Love it,so convenient,so much lighter weight, its capabilities are underrated. So,long as you enjoy what you're doing, and even though you may not be thinking of big/heavy/expensive dslr any time soon, why not pass the film camera/lenses on to someone needing to learn about photography? After all, that money was spent a long time ago, you got your kicks, you won't get much monetary return now but you'll be happy to let go,make a decision and unload.
Hi Jenny: I also have the Z981...However There is no way to add another flash or to mount filters... Otherwise, it's a great camera... I put my SLR film camera away...
Tony...
Pepsiman..it seems there is (Adorama/B&H)something for this camera if you want to buy/use round filters. I'm trying to work out something,(plastic, tape, whatever, homemade) to use 3"sq.filters in its holder.True, things to miss in the film slr,hot shoe and pc connector, being able to set up an umbrella from it,multi-exposure capabilities. But the digital camera's limitations slowed me down,to go back to appreciating daylight,self-imposed discipline of using what is available. At least for still life you can get very inexpensive lights from Home Depot, for small subjects flashlights with paper diffuser..Enjoy the convenience of flexible ISO and WB settings, and enjoy NOT using film.
