I just started reading my Canon Ti manual. There's a discussion about something called a Quick Control Screen. What is this? When would I use it?And why would I use it? How does it work in conjunction with the Mode Dial on the camera? After reading the manual,I'm even more confused. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The quick control sceen will get you to will let you change setting on your camera such as shutter speed, aperture, iso, etc.

I have a T2I and there is a button on the back of the camera that shows a "Q". Pressing that button will bring up the control screen which will alow you to scroll through using the up/down or left/right buttons. You can then change settings by using the scroll wheel on your camera and pressing "set" when finished.

Not sure if it works in auto or not. I always shoot in manual mode, shutter priority or aperture priority.

Good Morning Ceallachain, I have the T3i, which also has the QC button on the back of the camera next to the LCD Screen. It makes it easier to access the menu items to change things with. Play with it and see what a difference it makes.

I wish all the Canon camera' had the Q screen. Press the Q button on the back and now the LCD shows all the important camera settings and you can use the joy stick and set buttons to change the settings on the fly. I had the T2i which is very similar to the T1i and (if I remember correctly) I could change ISO, shutter speed, F/stop, picture style, frame rate, focus (one shot, servo), W/B, exposure comp, flash comp, maybe more.

Well if I understand the feedback correctly,Quick Control Screen allows me to do all my camera adjustments on this screen eliminating the need to do them individually. Yes?

Yes you can do majority of them on the Q screen, there are some menu operations that you have to go to the menu stream for. but for operational (Exposure) use of taking a photograph YES
