Winds of Change....
Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward
this email to a minimum of twenty people on their
address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United States of America will have this message.

This is one idea that really should be passed around

*Congressional Reform Act of 2012

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/31/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.

Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work
If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive
the message. Don't you think it's time?
THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

Trouble is we keep re-electing the same thieves; mainly because they promise more money and over 50% of the population do not understand economics. Washington is not working in our best interests.

Oh my, this stirred up the thin skinned liberals again. This has been circulating so long I doubt that there are many still out there who don't know it's been proven a hoax for several years now. They just keep changing the date. It was likely that this was attributed to Warren Buffett, because in a 2011 interview with CNBC, he did offer this quote about the debt ceiling: “I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.”

I think what bothers the whiners here is that the parts that are good ideas for reform, i.e. no pension beyond social security, no exemption from portions of Obamacare, and be subject to all the same laws that apply to the rest of us. All those might hinder their hopes for “fairness and utopia.

The problem is the only way for that to happen, is for them to pass such laws, and that would be cutting off their own gravy train, so it will never happen as long as there are career politicians who care more about their own self-interest than that of the country. My biggest question is why do liberals think this is a good system?

No Twardlow didn't lie, he just forwarded a hoax, whomever wrote it lied, there is a difference. Haven't you ever repeated something that turned out to be untrue? Did that make you a liar, or just mistaken? Oh wait that's right, when a conservative mistakenly repeats an untruth he's a liar, when a liberal does it it's just a mistake. Hypocrites.

I think there are career politicians on both sides of the isle. Neither conservatives nor liberals will vote to reduce their present benefits. I can understand special benefits for those who travel extensively during their tenure while in office like the Secretary of State and the President and Vice President and their families, but not for congress.
This should actually be put on the national ballot for the people to decide and not for our elected officials to legislate. The Forefathers of Democracy intended for legislators to serve their elected period of office and then to return to their original jobs. A career in politics was never even considered.

It's the same here in Australia. Thieves, liars and cheats. A parliamentarian can be in for 10 years (I think), and get out on a pension for life starting immediately, not when they turn 65. Bastards.

A lie, so you don't think is a good idea, that they should put the American people first before themselves? Wish I could vote myself a pay raise, don't you?

Do you think it's a good idea for Reps/ Congressman/women making a career in Washington?

As far as the right goes, what has the left offered but higher debt, more taxes and want to continue that trend? When is enough?

Please give an answer besides its Bush's fault.

Look what our current president inherited from the one we had from 2008 - 2012.

I thought I had verified the information listed below from a good sources but after looking into it further today, I ran across this.

I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong. As far as just flat out intentionally telling a lie, that was not my intent.

May I also add that when any stalemate in voting causes things like the present funding "sequester" issue, the first thing that ceases is congressional paychecks and benefits, including funding for congressional office space allotments, aids and committee payments. If Congress wants to strike, they should feel the consequences of their inaction just like the public.

Is there anyone here that thinks the IRS is a lawful service and thinks their jurisdiction reins over the 50 states?

I think what this country needs is enabling legislation that would allow the public to add propositions to ballots to effect the above changes we would love to see. This would reign in the polititions--- ye, right!!
