Mayakka is another great place to visit for bird photography. If you ever plan a trip to Southwestern Florida (Sarasota) and you love birds then Mayakka won't disappoint. Here are a few shots of the various birds I was fortunate enough to capture. Many of these birds were a first for me and that was so exciting!
All shots were taken with my Canon EOS 7D with a 100-400 mm F/4L zoom lens; some handheld and some with a tripod.
Tri-Colored Heron
Strike a Pose (Snowy Egret)
Cormorant with Catfish (look closely and you can see the blood droplets)
Anhinga (sometimes called a Snakebird)
Glossy Ibis
Thank you very much; your comment is much appreciated!

Another nice series!
TaraMar, I hope you enjoyed the park. I live in Sarasota, and consider it part of my back yard. Nice shots, did you see any Spoonbills? Gary

Hi Gary,
I didn't see any Spoonbills at Myakka but I did see a couple off the Gulf of Mexico Dr in Long Boat Key, right along the small waterway on the golf course. Luckily I had my camera with me and was able to get off a couple of shots. Here is one.

Thanks, one of my favorites. They are usually in the park, I am surprised as it is rare this time of year to not see them. Anyway I hope you enjoyed your time there. Gary
