Nikon D90 with Nikon 18-70 zoom lens
I have a D7100 on order with B & H so I thought I'd place my D90 on sale here with Ugly Hedgehog members. Camera and lens always taken care of never bumped, dropped, etc. The camera has taken less than 9000 pictures and is said to be good for 100,000. Sale price is $499.00.
Another one!
First post and selling something.
I would not recommend anyone buying anything from someone who, in their first post, tries to sell something.
Yes my first post. I've been reading the site for a long time and really enjoying it. I didn't realize my initial entry would arouse suspicion. I do plan a more active role in the proceedings as soon as I find a picture or two that won't be greeted with too many negative responses. My interest is mainly in available light photography. Mostly shot in jazz clubs. I'll send a couple when I figure out how to do it.

This doesn't make any difference. People need to get to know you here. This forum isn't the same as eBay where you have some recourse to get satisfaction if the transaction doesn't go through. Nobody is going to mail a check or PayPal you money first.
How would you feel about sending your camera without payment trusting the potential buyer that in good faith, you will get paid? If you do that, then you might get some interested buyers. This isn't a buy/sell forum. It's a photography forum for people interested in learning or sharing their experience in photography. We added the Buy/Sell section for trusted members.
Well, it seems I've somehow ruffled feathers here. Just seeing the listing of items for sale gave me the impression it would be alright. Fill me in with the rules and I'll adhere to them. Seemed like a friendly group. Never thought I was doing anything wrong. How many photos must I send in before I'm trusted? Just trying to get some help to replace my 18-70mm with something that would perform better on the D7100. Guilty until proven innocent I guess. Believe me I'm an honest guy. All the thieves in Massachusetts are in the State House.

Jazzer, there are no rules for posting something for sale. My feathers aren't ruffled, but I'm sure you see our point. You must belong for a while before you can be trusted is all. On your first or second post you are just a stranger to the old timers here. Please join the group and get active in some of your photography interests and get to be known. In the mean time, I suggest you use eBay, Craigslist, or your local camera store (consignment) for selling your gear. Seriously, would you send your gear to a stranger before receiving payment? Well, it works the same for someone sending money to a stranger.

Welcome Jazzer!
Ton, Kf4wol, sounds like your a ham. I'm K4EBR nice to meet you
I really don't think it's necessary to jump on someones case prematurely because you think someone might be a scam artist. If you want a Nikon D90 and he might have one for sale...do a little checking on how he will deliver it to your satisfaction. Welcome Jazzer and ignore the negativity.

WOW    :hunf:
Thanx for your support Tom. I listed it on Craigslist last night.
Good advice Racmanaz. Thank's for your support.
On Craigslist (where I do most of my buying and selling) they have spammers and scammers, but at least they don't chew you out for selling something if you have a low shutter count on the forums.
My shutter count is low too, but my sarcasm index balances things out.
Welcome Jazzer. We are all suspicious by nature, some of us are just more vocal about it than others. Don't take it personally, but don't lookem inna eyes!
