I’ve been looking at the same thing and a vinyl cutter. Prices are not bad on the smaller ones.

I wasn't in on the decision process, the owner of the sign shop where I work bought it before I was hired. However, he did a LOT of research before he bought it. These are some of the main features. It uses up to 54" rolls of media. There is a multitude of media available for it - we use mostly banner & self-adhesive vinyl. It uses solvent-type inks, in 8 colors - 6-color CMYK with metallic & white inks for the 7 & 8 colors. It both prints & cuts. And what still amazes me, it will allow you to print the job, remove the print from the printer, laminate it with a separate machine, then put the print back into the printer & cut it. It was kinda pricey - about $30K, but well worth it!

How do you plan to use your printer?
