I have a D7000, relatively new and after I shoot some pictures, and I try to turn it off, it won't. I have to disengage the battery for it to go off

Ah hear that before

Go into menu and locate reset, defaults and click on it, it will reset the camera

This has been a problem reported with some d7000. It has been recommended that you can fix by: remove both cards, refit and reformat. If you google this problem, there are some issues reported.

Is your camera still recording images to the card? Look for the little green activity light on the back of the body. The camera will not turn completely off so long as there are images left to record. Its an insurance feature to keep you from losing those images, not a camera problem.
If you pull the battery you will lose those un-recorded images.

I've had that problem. Download the latest updates from Nikon to your camera. That cured my problem.

yes, this is correct. When shooting 6 fps, and to a lower class card, it will take a while to record the images. Check and wait until the green light goes off as suggested by MT
