Problems developed with CS5

Some weeks back I inquired about not being able to do contact sheets after upgrading from CS2 to CS5. I was advised to download a plug-in that would do the trick. I did that. Now my CS5 tends to "die" after a few hours of use. Such as (just a few of the problems): The "save as" command disappears (doesn't work); the metadata list shrinks from the many down to just a few; my keyboard suddenly won't work in PS anymore (but it does in all other programs). Also, when I open PS now I get a bunch of "this isn't a Windows image" screens (like about 10 of them). The download was from the Adobe PS website.

Any clues as to what has happened to my CS5? Should I just delete the plug-ins? I normally print a lot of contact sheets, so I need that capability.

Once these problems start, the only way to get back to a working PS is to reboot the computer - not just PS. That's annoying and time-consuming.

If you still have the install of it I suggest you re-install it but call it a similar name tho'.

You should probably get rid of that plug-in. If you have Bridge, and you probably do, you don't need the plug in. That is where I do my contact sheets. Fnd the Output under the drop down arrow at the top right of your screen in Bridge. First is Essential, then Folders, Preview, Filmstrip, a star, then a downward arrow. Click on the arrow, then click on Output.

i would get rid of the plug in, I still make contact sheets with CS5, but will have to go check to see how :) as I haven't done it in awhile and need to refresh my memory.

It could be similar to Wendy's suggested, just not sure.

When i had the problem up front, I found the solution I am using with google :0

Sounds like the plug-in is causing a memory leak, and Photoshop is trying to compensate. Quitting and restarting Photoshop periodically might be a workaround. Is this happening on a PC or a Mac? And what is the plug-in (so others can avoid it)?

The plug-in is for Windows and is for doing a contact sheet. Apparently some other "options" were in the same download, but it's the contact sheet that I was looking for.

Yes, I do use Bridge. I couldn't find it in Bridge either, but I'll look where Wendy2 states. I think the issue is that on the PS contact sheet in CS2 I could choose the pics I wanted included and on the CS5 Bridge version it included everything whether I wanted it or not. The selective version was a LOT better.

here is what i use with Bridge
Go Bridge> output>custom> under custom Document which allows you to pick paper type, then to layout which lets one pick pic size, then save to pdf file and move to windows document, then I print out the file.

In Bridge, you can assign from 1 to 5 stars to images, or labels. You can then filter the images. For example, you can display only those with 3 or more stars. You can clear the filter to see all the images at any time.

They brilliantly changed the process in Cs5. Couldn't leave well enough alone! I had the same problem when I moved from Cs3 to Cs5, but did some research and found out how well they hid the process in Bridge.

Thanks, all. I'll try the Bridge thing again and see if I can get it to work for me. Guess I'm a spoiled stick-in-the-mud. When something works, why change it?

I agree!! That's why I said it was a brilliant move on Adobe's part.
