I downloaded some photos on my desktop computer. When I tried to download the same card on my laptop, some of the photos did not show up. They are still on the card in the camera. Any suggestions?
i have a Canon 7D and am using the Zoombrowser program. (yeah, I know, I should upgrade, but as some of you know, I'm still trying to figure out my camera. Desktop has Windows XP; laptop has Windows 7.

Get a card reader and put the SD card in that and move them to a folder created on the PC

The card is on a card reader. it should download all the photos to my laptop, but it didn't. (Are we not understanding each other?)

Have you tried downloading direct from camera? Are some images RAW and others J-peg?

is it the raw files that are not showing up? it may be that your laptop does not have the raw file codecs installed.
this is a link to ms codec download. hope it helps.

Interesting - also use Windows 7 and use a card reader to download. Make sure it has all of the updates.

I had a problem, not the same, but touching on yours. Using a Hoodman reader I usually down load thru my desktop to storage on an external hard. This one day, I also wanted to download the images dircetly to my Windows 7 laptop, did so. Reattached the reader to the deaktop and it did NOT recognize the reader at all. I said "Huh"?
I then attached the reader back to the laptop and it worked fine. Also have a Portable running XP - attached to that and the reader worked fine. Went back to the desktop and nothing.
Called Hoodman the next day (a Friday) and they were at a loss. On Monday, I was ready to call Hoodman again but thought I'd try it again with the desktop and it worked fine (and has done so since). I've concluded that I got an update that screwed something up which was then fixed by a subsequent update. If it wasn't this then I've Gremlins.

My desktop is running 7Pro, laptop 7 Home Premium.

BTW - I keep XP because I have a program that won't run in full in the Virtual XP facility that 7Pro offers that I won't voluntarilly give up.

Nat... As mentioned elsewhere, it sounds like a codecs problem. If they are simply JPG or JPEGs then there is no good reason why they didn't download to the XP on the laptop, other of course, than a codecs problem. I know that Microsoft doesn't support XP any longer, but you might look and see if there are new codec files for Canon JPG files. You might also try downloading the latest and greatest version of Zoombrowser on the laptop but in a different location than where you have your current version....Don't want to loose that.

Agree....Strange problem. Good luck in resolving.
