Canon EF 100mm F2.8 USM macro lens

I searched this forum on Canon macro lens and this one seemed to pop up several times stating the price was just over $300. Where can I find this lens (in the USA) at that price? I found several but they were almost $600. I am a newbie and just invested in the Rebel T4i, a Canon 50mm lens, tripod, filters, etc so getting short on money. Appreciate any help with this.

Keep hitting up this search:
http://greenville.craigslist.org/search/sss?zoomToPosting=&altView=&query=canon++%28+slr+|+dslr+|+lens+|+camera+|+flash+|+tokina+|+sigma+|+opteka+|+lenses+%29&srchType=A&minAsk=&maxAsk=

I keep that search going on my local Craigslist. You will find what you're looking for and more. It might take a while, but you will score.

In the meantime, play with what you have, keep shooting and learning.

Hi artwrkz: As has been mentioned craigslist is a good place to find used the lens you were asking about. I actually found mine locally and bought it for $200 or there about. The advantage of buying locally is I was able to try out the lens before paying for it. The young man had purchased it the previous year as refurbished from I think it was either B & H, KEH or Adorama. Which are dependable on line camera stores. (If you're not sure how to find them do a search on your favorite search engine, they will be there.) They offer a variety of equipment, which you can by new or used. They rate their lenses all the way from new to ugly and every where between. Ugly would be a lens with lots of wear and tear on the body with some blemished on the glass, or like the one I purchased from the young man refurbished. Certainly condition and glass quality will dictate price. Check out all three companies I'm pretty sure you will find one in your price range. Hope this helps.

RocketScientiest: Thanks for the search tip. I didn't know how to do that type of search on Craigslist. Will keep a watch on that.

travlnman46: Thanks for the names of some companies to check for refrubished lens. Since I am a newie, was a little wary of just picking a company off the internet and buy something.

Go on line to KEH. A very old company that sells used equipment. I have purchased lens from them, they are fast and if any problem they take care of it quickly. They had that lens on there earlier this week. It comes with IS or non IS and the price is several hundred dollars different.

If you plan to truly use this lens close-up hand held - the IS is worth the extra !

Hello again artwrkz: You are more than welcome, I have personally used KEH and found their service very good. My first two kit lenses came used through Amazon and as I already mentioned my 100 mm Macro lens I found through Craig's List. When I ordered my 70-200 mm lens from KEH along with a matching teleconverter and lens shade. I ordered the wrong lens shade. They promptly send the correct one, which was less money and when they received the wrong one back promptly gave me a credit for that one. Their sales staff was very helpful and friendly. I have a half dozen lenses and only one of them was bought new and that one my 24 mm wide angle was a present from the wife and daughters for Christmas a few years back. Again Welcome to the forum.
